Fondant

Heres' my first attempt at a fondant cake- (well I think I remember doing one in Junior High but this is definitely the first in my adult life). This time I thought I would document the process. I tried a new recipe for a "rich dark chocolate cake" with a dark chocolate ganache. I made it in a 6X3 round pan and then cut it into a square.

The bow was stuffed with tissues until it dried so that the loops would hold their shape.

Oh my goodness, you put me to shame! That looks SO very pretty. I love how it turned out. If mine looked like that I would insist on framing it instead of eating it. Did you guys eat yours yet? Did it taste good? We all know my "focus" (or lack thereof) is more about taste than looks for my cakes--it's just an excuse because mine will never be as beautiful, but at least they'll taste good right?? I guess my imperfectionism serves me well. :) But you my dear, you have quite the talent, and that cake is a beautiful work of art. Good work!
